Hace Ya Muchos Sueños

Hace ya muchos sueños is a selection of poetry by Cándido Ballester that has been prepared exclusively for the Poesia de paper collection. Primarily known internationally as a plastic artist, this man with his warm Rio de Plata accent has been working on a literary oeuvre generically divided between the novel, theatre and lyric poetry, this last being the realm of Ausencias y canciones and Celebración de una calle de barrio. Jaume Socias has referred to Ballester’s work in the following terms: He limits the colour in his works on paper to accompanying the skilful drawing. As for his paintings, they are altarpieces of perfect technique with vaguely Renaissance monumental personages often corroded by time and architectural or sculptural forms with a classic cut [… ] the unsettling, surrealist theme of things and people in the process of destruction is explained by the paintings’ titles, which allude to dreams and time .
